Facilities & Maintenance Assistant

Role Purpose

We are looking for a practical, reliable, and proactive individual to support the ongoing upkeep, maintenance, and operational readiness of the Stori Brymbo site.

This is a varied role focused on helping ensure the site remains safe, functional, secure, and welcoming for visitors, staff, and volunteers. The role will combine routine maintenance tasks, small repairs and improvements, contractor coordination, and general site support.

The successful candidate will work independently, identify maintenance needs proactively, and take a practical, organised approach to keeping the site running smoothly.

There may also be opportunities for this role to complement the Cleaner role to create a larger combined post, although hourly pay rates for each role would remain separate.

Key Responsibilities

Site Maintenance & Upkeep

  • Carry out small repairs, maintenance tasks, and practical improvements
  • Support implementation of routine maintenance plans
  • Identify and report future maintenance needs
  • Help ensure buildings and visitor areas remain safe and well presented

Site Operations Support

  • Support day-to-day operational needs across the site
  • Assist with practical set-up requirements for activities or events where needed
  • Carry out basic site checks and report issues promptly

Contracts & Facilities Coordination

  • Support day-to-day operational needs across the site

Essential Criteria

  • Practical maintenance, facilities, or DIY experience
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve
  • Reliable, organised, and methodical approach
  • Good awareness of health and safety practices
  • Flexible and positive attitude
  • Willingness to work flexibly around operational needs, including weekends where required

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in building maintenance, facilities, caretaking, or site operations
  • Experience coordinating contractors or suppliers
  • Understanding of visitor, heritage, or hospitality environments
  • Welsh language skills desirable

Ideally delivered over 2 shifts per week. Hours will need to be worked flexibly around business and operational needs. Stori Brymbo operates across 6 days per week, including weekends.
