Hidden beneath Brymbo for millions of years, the Fossil Forest is one of the most significant geological discoveries in the UK. Preserved in stunning detail, its ancient trees once formed the coal that powered the Industrial Revolution—linking prehistoric ecosystems with local industry.

Uncovered in 2003 during work on the old steelworks, the site contains over 20 towering fossilized trees, their root networks still intact. Plans are underway to excavate, protect and display this extraordinary site. Ensuring its legacy for education, research, and public exploration.
