Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator

Role Purpose

The Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator will support the development and delivery of a high-quality programme that connects people to Stori Brymbo through volunteering and wider participation opportunities.

Working alongside our established Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator, you will help attract and support volunteers, build relationships with partners, and deliver inclusive, well-managed activities that create meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the development and delivery of the Trust’s volunteering and community engagement programme
  • Attract, recruit, and retain a diverse and engaged volunteer base
  • Inspire and encourage participation across a wide range of activities
  • Support volunteers to develop skills, confidence, and connections
  • Create and implement clear action plans for volunteering and engagement activity
  • Ensure delivery of planned outcomes on time and within budget
  • Provide induction, training, pastoral, and coaching support to volunteers
  • Supervise volunteers (and staff where required)
  • Gather and respond to feedback to continuously improve the programme
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation and engagement
  • Produce high-quality reports for funders and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, including health & safety

Community & Participation Development

  • Coordinate and support work placements, work experience, and corporate volunteering opportunities
  • Build relationships with organisations to expand participation opportunities
  • Support community groups and interest-based activities linked to the Trust’s work
  • Identify opportunities to increase engagement and broaden participation

Partnerships & External Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partner organisations, including:
    • Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham
    • Wales Council for Voluntary Action
    • Wrexham Heritage Services
    • Local heritage networks and third sector organisations
  • Represent the Trust in community and partnership settings where appropriate

Key Tasks

  • Coordinate day-to-day volunteering and engagement activity
  • Deliver inductions and training sessions
  • Monitor participation and engagement levels
  • Maintain systems and records
  • Support events and wider organisational activity
  • Contribute to reporting and evaluation

  • Strong ICT skills, including Microsoft Office

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of project development and delivery
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working with diverse audiences
  • Experience in community or heritage-led regeneration
  • Experience delivering formal or informal learning
  • Budget management experience
