Cook

Role Purpose

We’re looking for a cook who believes that food brings people together.

This role is about more than just preparing meals, it’s about creating a welcoming, homely food experience that visitors remember. You will prepare and deliver a consistent, high-quality menu while maintaining excellent standards of hygiene, safety, and organisation.

You’ll also support themed events and seasonal activity, bringing creativity and care into everything you produce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver menu items to a high and consistent standard
  • Carry out food preparation and daily kitchen operations
  • Plan orders and manage stock effectively
  • Maintain a 5-star hygiene standard at all times
  • Ensure robust allergen processes are followed and clearly communicated
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and well-maintained
  • Provide clear handovers to other team members to ensure continuity
  • Support the delivery of themed events and special occasions
  • Contribute ideas for menu improvements and seasonal offerings

Key Tasks

  • Daily food prep and service delivery
  • Stock rotation, ordering, and waste control
  • Cleaning schedules and hygiene checks
  • Supporting event-based catering needs
  • Working collaboratively with wider team members

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in a café, visitor attraction, or similar environment
  • Food hygiene certification
  • Experience supporting events or high-volume service
  • Welsh language skills desirable

Working Hours & Environment

  • Typically, 6-hour shifts, 4 days per week 9am – 3.30pm (including a 30 min break)
  • Potentially to increase daily hours in the future
  • Varied working patterns
  • Weekend and peak-time working required as part of a rota
  • On-site role in Brymbo
