At Stori Brymbo, we want as many people as possible to enjoy and explore our unique site. We know that every visitor’s needs are different, and we are committed to continually improving accessibility wherever we can.
As a former industrial site, our landscape is shaped by the dramatic topography that made industry possible here in the first place. The steep gradients, levels and uneven ground are an important part of the story of Brymbo, and part of what makes the site so distinctive today.
While this creates an exciting and memorable visitor experience, it also means some areas can be challenging to access.
The main entrance to Stori Brymbo is through the Machine Shop, where you will find our welcome area, retail space and coffeehouse. There is level access into this building, and a lift provides access to the gallery spaces.
Across the wider site, visitors will encounter:
Many visitors enjoy exploring these areas at their own pace, and there are plenty of places across the site to stop, rest and take in the views and landscape.
Because of the nature of the site, some routes may not be suitable for all visitors, including some wheelchair and mobility scooter users. We recommend sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing when visiting the outdoor areas of the site.
If you would like to know more about access for your specific circumstances, please feel free to reach out to us before your visit as we want to make it as enjoyable as possible.
Our guided 4×4 tour provides access to areas of the site that may otherwise be difficult to reach. The tour is suitable for visitors who are able to transfer into a 4×4 vehicle.
Where possible, transport support can also be arranged for selected guided experiences and tours. Please contact the Welcome Team in advance to discuss your requirements.
A fully equipped Changing Places toilet is available inside the main Machine Shop building near the main entrance.
Additional toilet facilities are located across the site.
Visitors who require the support of a carer or essential companion are welcome to bring them free of charge when accompanying the person they support, but will need to book their ticket.
If you have any questions about accessibility or ticketing, please contact the Welcome Team before your visit.
Our team will always do their best to support visitors during their visit. If you require assistance on arrival, please speak to a member of the Welcome Team.
We understand that every visitor’s needs are different and we are happy to discuss individual requirements wherever possible.
Our visitor car park is located close to the Main Entrance and includes marked accessible parking bays with level access to the entrance.
Drop-off points are also available close to the entrance for visitors with limited mobility.
We are always looking for ways to improve accessibility and make visits to Stori Brymbo more enjoyable for everyone.
